Bio:

An Arizona native, David Michael Cook’s photographic interests lie in the temporality of the southwestern landscape, from Los Angeles to Marfa.  Using landscape as metaphor, his recent work explores the idea of taking as it pertains to landscape, time, and photography.  Within the contested desert borderlands, he considers the taking-place of light and weather, the taking-time of ordinary activities, and the violence of taking images—taking territory.  David received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Arizona State University and studied with David Taylor in the Masters of Fine Arts program at New Mexico State University.

Photographs are made using large or medium format color film and printed in an limited edition of 10 with 2 artist’s proofs. All prints are made by Sonoran Print Editions using Museo Portfolio Rag and archival pigmented ink.  Prints are framed by Richard Laugharn at Fine Art Framing using the highest quality archival methods. Each frame is hand milled, colored or stained, and unique to each print. All prints are available for purchase.
